Medicines
Sort medicines separately from other waste
Medicines are hazardous waste.
Pack pharmaceutical waste as follows
- loose tablets in a transparent bag
- blister packs without cartons in a bag (cardboard wrapping counts as a carton)
- creams and liquid medicines in their own packaging
- medicines containing iodine (Jodix, Betadine, Iodosorb) in their own packaging, separately from other medicines
Where can I take it?
Pharmacies accept out-of-date and unused household medicines, as well as syringes, needles and mercury thermometers, free of charge.
No pharmaceutical waste is received at Pirkanmaa Jätehuolto’s waste stations and waste centres.
